Alternative Provision
At Kip McGrath Selby we help children aged five years and upwards with all levels of English and Maths.
Alternative Provision with Kip McGrath Selby
At Kip McGrath Selby, we provide an alternative to full-time education. Many children who are not attending school receive tuition at home to meet their educational needs. The centre is very calm, quiet, relaxed, informal and welcoming. We understand that large classroom environments may not be suitable for all children. Some children thrive in a smaller group with more individual support. We welcome students who are home-schooled and work with parents to complement the learning taking place at home.
What do we do when we offer alternative provision?
- Every child takes a FREE initial assessment which is run by the centre director. This assessment then gives us a correct starting level to plan lessons
- The sessions are taught by experienced and qualified teachers providing a personalised learning journey.
- Students can attend for one maths and/or English per day.
- We start with what the student “can do” and build their knowledge and skills to fill the gaps, rather than what is “expected” of their age related targets
- There are different time slots during school hours and after school. Students can attend anywhere between one and four days per week to fit in with other placements.
- All resources and activities are aligned to the National Curriculum.
- Students enjoy collaboration of computer based and manual activities, broken down into manageable 15-minute chunks.
- Homework is provided each week to consolidate learning.
- Additional revision sessions are available closer to exam periods
- Sessions are 70 minutes long.
